Rob Smith                  

Hitting & Fielding Instructor / Training            

              

Rob has over 30 years of baseball experience.  He is a former college shortstop/infielder and went on to be a professional baseball player in the Cleveland Indians organization.  He offers advanced baseball instruction, utilizing his expertise in hitting, fielding, throwing techniques and the mental & physical concepts of the game.  He also offers specialized baseball training & conditioning sessions.  He has a talent for evaluating students and creating a tailored lesson plan - to maximize each student's potential.

Keith Dunckel

Pitching Instructor

 

Keith has over 30 years of baseball experience and has been working with youth pitchers for years.  He is a former college pitcher with Allen County CC and Bellevue University.  After college, he went on to pitch professionally in the San Diego Padres organization.  Keith offers advanced pitching instruction focusing on the proper mechanics of pitching as well as the mental and physical aspects of pitching.  He has a strong passion for teaching and is totally committed to his students.


 Mike Hughes

Hitting & Pitching Instructor / Fielding     

                  

Mike has over 20 years of baseball experience.  He has been instructing youth for many years.  As a former college pitcher at Johnson County CC and Washburn University, with experience as an infielder & outfielder as well, Mike offers expertise in all aspects of the game.  With his passion for teaching and advanced knowledge in the area of pitching, students will have an opportunity to learn the correct fundamentals of pitching, refining their overall ability.  He instills confidence in each student's own ability - creating a positive learning environment.  Mike also teaches hitting and fielding at our group clinics.

Jeff Steiner

Catching & Hitting Instructor / Fielding



Jeff has over 25 years of baseball experience as a player and coach.  He has been coaching youth for several years.  Jeff was a two-time Western Nebraska all-star during his high school years.  He played 2 years of college baseball at Neosho County Comm. College, then 2 years at Washburn University, where he was 2nd team All-Conference his junior season.  He was known for his elite defensive skills as a catcher.  With Jeff's extensive knowledge of catching and his expertise in the art of hitting, he will bring a whole new dimension of coaching to SBA.  He has a knack for communicating with students and an ability to teach to all skill levels.


Tony Shaw 

Pitching Instructor

                                                                                   

Tony  has over 28 years of baseball experience.  He has been coaching and instructing youth and High School players for the last 12 years.  Tony is a former pitcher at Allen County CC and Division-1 pitcher at Univ. Louisiana-Lafayette and has also pitched in the Cleveland Indians organization.  Through his years of experience and commitment to studying the art and science of pitching, he has a real understanding of what it takes to be a successful pitcher at any level.

Katie Gregg

Fast-pitch Softball Pitching Instructor

      

Katie brings a very important dimension to SBA.  She has 16 years of competitive softball experience.  She has trained with some of the best teachers, coaches and players from all over the country.  Katie finds it very rewarding to pass along her pitching techniques and philosophies to fast-pitch softball pitchers of any skill level - from the beginner, to the serious athlete that is seeking a career in softball.  She will provide fundamentals and skills that will help any pitcher maximize their own potential.  While an elite pitcher at Washburn University, she was named the MIAA Conference Freshman of the Year.  Along with several single season records, she has the lowest career ERA and best career winning percentage there.  After 2 years at W.U., she went on to pitch 2 years at the University of New Mexico where she also led the team in ERA, wins and strikeouts.  She has participated in an Olympic Softball camp as well as pitched on a few nationally ranked traveling teams.  Through these experiences and her strong passion for teaching, Katie offers an expertise in the area of fast-pitch softball pitching that is second to none. 


Drew Stevens
Pitching Instructor / Outfield / Hitting


Drew has over 25 years of baseball experience as a player and coach.  He was a pitcher and outfielder for Coffeyville CC in 1991 - 92.  Along with coaching several competitive baseball teams over the years, he has also been working one-on-one with local youth pitchers.  He has become one of the most qualified pitching instructors in this area.  Drew has improved and maximized the potential of pitchers of all ages and skill levels, whether it's sharpening the mechanics of an "accomplished" pitcher or building a strong foundation for the beginner.  He has been coaching/instructing with Rob Smith for the last 8 plus years.  He also works with the hitters and outfielders at our clinics.
